DUBturbo Review – Is It Second Rate Software, Or One of the Best?

You’re probably here because you’ve heard about DUBturbo somewhere and you’re wondering what just about everyone naturally would before downloading the software. I wrote this DUBturbo review to help you learn more about the software and address any concerns about DUBturbo that may be running through your mind. Keep on reading to learn more about how this music making software compares to other options out there.

DUBturbo (official website here) was created for the aspiring digital music maker. The software generally specializes in hip hop and electronic beats, but there’s certainly enough there for those looking to make rock music, or even to experiment with acid jazz and other genres. When it comes down to it, the program gives you a real jump start in three areas:

1. Learning how to make your own beats. The program comes with a really complete video training tutorial that not only teaches you how to use the software as effectively as possible, but some great strategies for learning what goes into great beat and sample production. This element is ideal for people just starting out, but even more experienced people can learn a few things from this.

2. Beat samples, drum machines, and a keyboard.  There are literally thousands of potential beat samples to choose from when building your tracks, and these are made all the more interesting by the presence of drum machines and a virtual keyboard with 8 octaves. The keyboard has all kinds of instruments built into it too, and there are over 40 drum kits with a handful of pads  DUBturbo keyboardincluded in each kit. If you have experience playing the drums or keyboard, you’ll really be able to go to town with this. Even if you don’t, all you need to do is play around to get a feel for what’s possible here. You also have the option to import your own tracks and samples, with the ability to build on those easily by creating your own remix within DUBturbo. This might be the best feature offered if your main goal is to remix popular songs.

3. The DUBturbo marketplace.  This is a really interesting feature because it provides a great platform to anyone looking for exposure. Not only can you list your beats and compositions for others to hear for themselves, but you can actually sell them to others in the marketplace and make some money for your work. It’s really a great way to begin making a name for yourself on a smaller scale. I’d always recommend uploading all of your work to Youtube too, since there’s really no better free way today to get as many listeners as possible.

Another cool thing about DUBturbo is that it works on both PCs and Macs. And the last thing I’ll mention in this DUBturbo review is that there’s a 60 day money back guarantee for anyone who isn’t happy with the software. The only potential thing I could see giving you trouble is not watching the video training tutorial and jumping straight to the beat making. As with any software, you’ll be much better off if you take a few minutes to learn about all the shortcuts and features available instead of trying to guess.

The Best Ways to Learn How to Write Great Music On the Computer

With each year that passes, the art of making music on computers becomes easier and more exciting. Not only is this the case, but more and more people are turning to digital music sources as a means of their compositions. Even some of the biggest, most well established “brick and mortar” bands in the rock world are doing this. Adding some digital components makes albums more complex and fresh sounding. The possibilities are really endless no matter what genre interests you.

With all that said, there are many different ways to potentially write your own songs on the computer. While each program will have its own instructions, learning curve, and capabilities, here are some universal pieces of advice that should help you in your efforts to create the best sounding songs possible.

Go to Youtube for inspiration

Do a quick Youtube Music search, and you’ll find thousands of amateurs and professionals just like you creating their own awesome music from home. Do a search for remixes of some of your favorite songs and see what people have done with them. This is one of the greatest ways to find creative ideas when it comes to composing your own work. Read the feedback that people get and see what appeals to other viewers/listeners. In doing so, you’ll gain so much valuable insight at no cost.

Learn more about music theory

If you don’t have a background in music, don’t let this stop you from pursuing your dreams – but a better understanding of music theory and the components that go into song structure, chord progressions, rhythmic patterns and more will make it so much easier to write great music. If you don’t know about this stuff, there are tons of books to help you get your start. If you’re serious about breaking into the music world, you’d be wise to put the time into learning the foundations of music theory. A great book to get started with is The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Music Theory. Another great one is Pocket Music Theory by Hal Leonard.

Learn an instrument

This one will require a little more time and dedication, but learning an instrument is perhaps the best way to become familiar with typical song structures and all of the other essentials of music. Things as simple as learning scales and the fundamentals of major/minor chords will give you such a jump start and the ability to make your stuff sound even more original. You’ll have some fun while you do it too, and may even be able to perform some of your work live in conjunction with your digital beats and samples.
